Suicide bombers at University of Maiduguri mosque leave many worshipers dead

A number of worshipers at a mosque in the University of Maiduguri, Borno State were killed by suicide bombers in the early hours of Monday.
The attack, which took place at a worship centre near gate 4 and 5 of the institution it was learnt, happened after two female suicide bombers gained entrance into the university and detonated heavy explosives near two mosques, where Ummah Muslim worshippers were observing their early morning prayers around 5:15am and 5:35am.
While the number of those killed is not yet known, an eye witness account disclosed that those killed include two professors, students and staff of the university.
The name of one of the professors killed in the attack was given as Aliyu Mani.
The ugly incident was confirmed by the school’s Public Relations Officer, Mallam Ahmed Mohammed, who said he cannot tell at the moment if there were casualties.
Meanwhile, Borno State Commissioner of Police (CP) Damian Chukwu is said to have already sent police officers to the scene to get on the spot valuation of what happened.
