APC senator and spokesperson of Senate Unity Forum (SUF) has called on Deputy Senate President to decamp to All Peoples Congress (APC
- The senator said the only seat remaining for the APC to clinch is Deputy Senate President’s position
The
spokesperson of the Senate Unity Forum (SUF), a forum that canvassed
for Lawan’s Presidency, Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC, Zamfara) has advised
the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu to decamp to the
APC.
Marafa
who said the emergence of Lawan has ended the storm in the Senate said
the only seat remaining for the APC to clinch is the Deputy Senate
President's position.
Marafa said: “I am using this medium to
call on Ekweremadu to simply decamp. Section 68(G) of the 1999
Constitution captures this. Thank God the rift between Makarfi and
Sheriff’s faction has made this possible. The sitting arrangement at
Senate is between majority and Minority. The party position has been
fully implemented. We have forgiven Bala Ibn Na’Allah.”
Meanwhile,Senator Ike Ekweremadu earlier this week warned that a military action
in Gambia, following that country’s presidential election, could plunge
the country into bloodletting and threaten the peace of the sub-region.
Ekweremadu, who is a former speaker of the
ECOWAS Parliament, urged the ECOWAS heads of state as well as the
international community to explore dialogue and to allow Gambian laws to
prevail as a sovereign nation.
He called for
sanctions to be considered in line with the traditions and relevant
Protocols of ECOWAS in the event that dialogue and judicial options fail
to resolve the Gambia crisis.
