Buhari is fit as a fiddle – Saraki, Dogara confirms
The leadership of the National Assembly who are in London to meet President Muhammadu Buhari, have said that Nigerians should go and sleep with their two eyes closed because the President is in sound health.
The Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, House of
Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who led the NASS delegation to
London, said on Thursday that Buhari is hale and hearty.
Saraki, in a statement he personally signed, allayed the fears of
most Nigerians over the state of health of the President, saying that
Buhari is in good state of health.
The Senate President, who confirmed that he made the visit in
company of Dogara, the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, said that
they were delighted to see “Buhari in a good state of health in the
United Kingdom.”
He pointed out that the absence of the President notwithstanding,
Nigeria’s system of democracy is working with all organs of government
fulfilling their mandates.
He said: “The President is doing well, cheerful and in good spirit, encouraging Nigerians that there is no cause for alarm.
“Myself, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara and Leader of Senate, Senator Ahmad
Lawan, paid a visit to President Buhari in the Abuja House in London.
“We were delighted to see that President Buhari is doing well, was cheerful and in good spirit.
“The President I saw today is healthy, witty and himself. The
President’s absence and imminent return shows that there is no vacuum
in government and our system of democracy is working with all organs of
government fulfilling their mandate. And let me use the time-tested
cliché, there is no cause for alarm!”
Similarly, Dogara said that “Buhari is as fit as a fiddle.”
Dogara, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and
Public Affair, Turaki Adamu Hassan, said that they discussed national
issues with the President.
The statement reads: “In a tweet via his verified official twitter
handle @YakubDogara on Thursday, the Speaker said they discussed
national issues with the President.
“He further said that President Buhari is as fit as a fiddle and cracked jokes in his usual manner.
“The President is as fit as a fiddle. After burning national
issues, it was all PMB’s vintage humorous jokes. I’m so elated he is
as fit as a fiddle.”
“The leadership of the National Assembly’s visit to the President
is sequel to an agreement reached between the President of the Senate
and the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” he said.
